Dave Lysien spent the better part of the 90's damaging ear-drums in Addison, IL pop-punk stalwarts Not Rebecca. After two well-received CDs on Johann’s Face Records and shows with Alkaline Trio, Face To Face, Naked Raygun, Smoking Popes, Screeching Weasel, MxPx and many more, the group disbanded in 1998. And after a brief stint with Chicago power-pop veterans Woolworthy, Lysien formed Textbook in 1999.
Drawing from Lysien's diverse influences (Naked Raygun, The Replacements, Buddy Holly, Smoking Popes, Queen, Son Volt, etc.), Textbook expands on Not Rebecca's pop-punk sound, adding elements of roots rock, indie-pop, and classic rock to it's punk foundation. The group also features ex-Woolworthy rhythm section Rick Uncapher and Ian Lee, and lead guitarist Tommy Przybylinski.
